Aural science fiction made by two guys that loved the sounds of American artists like Larry Heard (the track "Mondrin" is a tribute) and Derrick May. Smooth synths spiraling, drifting, soaring and stretching with dubby bass lines that harken to the Chicago house of Alleviated, Trax and Gherkin Records sound. The magic ingredient? The Roland JD-800 digital synthesizer. Truly one of the best non-Detroit "Detroit" techno albums out there.
One of the best sounding remaster i've heard. Zero surface noise
outstanding album, best detroit futuristic techno ever made outside detroitgreat pressing, sounds wonderful
Unreal record. Your collection won't be complete without a copy of this! Can someone tell me if this issue is supposed to have a poster in it like electro-soma II? Thanks
Nice sounding pressing. I have a regular black version. Why oh why create a pressing like this and ship in crappy scratchy paper sleeves though????
Apparently nobody wants to sell this version of electro soma !!!Really sorry for us ... sadness
This is on juno now now now now now now
Looking for a copy either [Hello? Is anybody there?]. :)
The blue edition was a bleep exclusive only available through their website and sold out on pre-order. It was available for some time. If someone is selling it on here, they are just another flipper.
Is anyone able to comment as to whether black vinyl regular pressing has a hype sticker on shrink? And does sticker stipulate vinyl color? Thanks for any info.
Thanks @phish63. word word word word word word word word.
Yes, it does have the hype sticker on the shrink.
Sounding totally lush is this blue vinyl repress! Am delighted to have bagged a copy of such a beautiful and timeless work!
Early Waffle
The blue would very much go with my orange electro-soma :p , just waiting :)
NEW REISSUE https://bleep.com/release/86147-b12-electro-somaAND NEW https://bleep.com/release/86148-b12-electro-soma-iiB12 and Warp unearth the previously unknown missing piece to their soundtrack of space Electro-Soma.Reaching even further out into the deepest recesses of the Artifical Intelligence universe, Electro-Soma II collects some of B12's most cherished tracks from the Electro-Soma period and arranges them into an album of archival material that sounds as otherworldly and compellingly timeless as when we first heard Electro-Soma back in 1993.Electro-Soma II perfectly bridges the gap between the groups earliest AI material through to 1996's Time Tourist, while providing a fascinating viewpoint into the music of one of the most elusive and incredible artists to ever grace Warp

Anything on the original artificial intelligence series is going to be a premium. If you had this in your collection for over 20 years would you sell it for what you paid for it back then ?
Update from B12 on Facebook today :"The music industry is full of so many rules; don't release in august don't release in December don't release too much music too soon don't collaborate don't confuse yours message don't give to this label or that label don't use digital gear don't use presets don't create expensive products don't Blah blah rah rahWell December 2010 I was just hours away from dying in a hospital bed ; then when that was clearly not gunna happen my family were told I would likely be bed bound for the rest of my life and that didn't happen So I say to hell with the rules ; I have nothing to proove ; I have done all I need to do musically ; I exist ; so against every rule in the book - This summer perhaps august Electro Soma will be reissued along with bonus vinyl on warp record ; and at the same time I will release my Brain Fog album of 12 tracks of goodness ; and if it's too much too soon then it's too much too soon ; if it's too much at the same time then it's too much at the same time - for I know from experience the lights go out when someone else presses the switch . Today is all we have Thank you all for you continued support SXxxxx"
This is great newsMusic is produced to be shared, to challenge, and to inspire.Electro soma is just that. Soma for the mind and soul - our neural pathways. This is an album I keep coming back to and have done so since first dropping the needle on the orange pressing (I will never part with) way back in the day. It defines a time both personally and for electronic music as a whole.Thank you B12
Really looking forward to hearing what might be included on the bonus vinyl. Potentially unreleased material or maybe something off a B12 12"?
a reissue is apparently happening this summer, release via warp this info comes from the official B12 page which I presume is run by steve rutterhe's asking for 'any old pictures of him and mike ; or flyers ; or any other memorabilia from the 90's relating to B12 and or Electro Soma '
Superb news. I hope they repress Time Tourist as well.
One of the best Warp's album...recommended! This is the very history of music. ????
The Sphinx of Driz
Please re-press! A classic that deserves to be appreciated by more people.
I have and always will love the Artificial Intelligence Series on Warp - Simply timeless! Electronic music at its best!! Reminds me of travelling through Hyperspace to somewhere else......
'Debris' samples Brian Eno's 'Under the stars'
And 'Telefone 529' samples the break from 'September' by Jean Michel Jarre.
one of the best works of b12.
one of the best works of b12.
Although this is a compendium of earlier tracks, this is still one of Warp's finest releases. An absolute gem with some truly timeless classics. Hall of Mirrors is simply one of the best electronic songs ever for my money.
